We have a 30 year old home and suspected we had a radon issue. We also have 3 young kids and we wanted to make sure we were providing a healthy environment for them. A1 came out and measured our levels and confirmed our suspicions. We were a little concerned about the install, but quickly learned that Rob and Andy have a background in construction to go along with their vast knowledge of radon. So they were able to quickly come up with an installation solution that worked best for our house.

A1 Radon reduced our radon levels from a 17.4 to a .08! They were quick to fix our radon problem and Andy and Rob were very professional. We moved into a brand new home in Shakopee in 2010. I figured our house would be fine because we have a walk-out basement and our house was new. Luckily my husband insisted we just check to see what our levels were and I'm very glad we did.
A1 Radon came out in the summer of 2012 to check our radon levels. The basement number came back at 17.4. It definitely needed to be fixed. After a quick install of a fan on the radon pipe our levels went down to .08. We have noticed some very distinct changes in the health of our children since we had our house mitigated. Our son who was 3 and our other son who was 2 had needed an inhaler every time they had a simple cold and have not needed it since we had our radon fixed.
I would highly recommend having your radon levels checked to see if you can make your home a safer place to live. A1 Radon changed our lives.

A1 Radon Services installed a radon mitigation fan in our new construction home back in 2012. Their services were excellent – response time was quick and they were able to service our home very quickly. Rob, who performed the installation, was very courteous and friendly and was very knowledgeable not only on the fan he installed but on radon overall.
The install was quick and smooth and he walked us through how to read the gauge that was installed to ensure we knew what to look for in case the system failed for whatever reason. The warranty on the product is also excellent. We were so happy with our service; we referred A1 Radon Services to other new homeowners in our neighborhood looking for rand reduction quotes.
I highly recommend A1 Radon Services for any of your radon needs – they are top notch!

Andrew from A1 Radon Services arrived promptly for our scheduled appointment. I already knew upfront the cost of the test, so the plan was to just go ahead with that. He was very informative about the process and also the importance of the test. After the testing time was complete, he came back out and went over the results. Luckily the levels in our home were low and don't have to install a mitigation system. For a fair price, Andrew definitely gave us piece of mind. This test should be performed in every home but especially in homes with young children. I would definitely recommend Andrew and A1 Radon Services to anyone looking for a quality test with a real pro.

We had a fantastic experience with A1 Radon services. We needed someone to correct the radon problem in our basement. We were moving out of town and needed the work done ASAP. We were able to contact A1 Radon Services from Angie's list - we got a quick response and he did it! Andrew was on time, on budget and did everything he promised. His services also included running a test to confirm that the radon was gone our of out basement! We needed this in order to complete the sale of our home. Andrew was professional - he came when we needed him to. Worked with us in everyway. We are completely satisfied with his work. I would recommend him and his crew to everyone!! He made a stressful situation for us - much easier because he had the answers we needed. He was quick to respond, completed his work as stated and very professional. He knows his stuff and the work he does. Outstanding job. Thanks Andrew!!!

Everything went well, from start to finish.
Of the three companies I called, Andrew was the only one to come out and give a bid in a timely fashion. Job well done.

Andrew Costigan replied promptly to my call and scheduled a visit to look over our basement. He was thorough and answered all my questions while here. He got us a proposal in a day. His proposal did not include some extra actions that another radon firm suggested that would have cost an extra $700 as he said he didn't think it necessary given our radon levels (and that if the levels didn't fall to less than 2 pci/l, he'd then add the extra step).
We scheduled the actual work a few weeks out. Andrew and his colleague arrived on time and got done in about 3 hours. Their work looked great (basement pipe well finished, roof pipe painted black to better blend in, sump pump cover allowed us to see into the sump well) and they took the time to explain what they did and what we needed to do to maintain the system.
Andrew put a radon meter in the basement and when he came back to collect it 3 days, our radon levels had fallen 75% to under 1.0 on average.

I had gotten two other bids, which were substantially higher than Andrews' ($2785 and $2360 compared to Andrews' $1375). This was because the other two bids advised sealing our crawl space as well as installing a vent pipe and fan, whereas Andrew's proposal was to not seal the crawl space but install the vent pipe into the soil below the crawl space and vent the radon gas out, thus bypassing the need for sealing the crawl space. Additionally, Andrew acutely explained to us that, especially because we didn't start off with a super high level of radon, that installing the radon mitigation system without sealing the crawl space would adequately reduce our radon levels, thus reducing the amount of labor involved and therefore the cost.
One other bid also advised sealing the ductwork in the crawl space, replacing all of the insulation in the crawl space, adding house wrap to the ceiling of the crawl space, and removing other ductwork that we had in the basement. This would have added significant cost to our radon mitigation project. The bid for replacing the insulation alone (from another contractor) was an additional $2309. So we are super glad that we had Andrew come to give us a bid because his proposal got the job done at a much lower cost than other proposals.
We had a really great experience with this company from start to finish. When Andrew came to do the bid, he really thought about the best way to do mitigation in our home. We have an older home with complicated spaces for them to route the mitigation system through, but they still worked quickly and didn't run into any unexpected problems. After the first installation our levels were slightly high (2.1), which they had said in their proposal was a possibility. So they did a second site, as outlined in their proposal. They actually included the second site without any extra charge, which we greatly appreciate. We used our own radon monitor to verify levels too, and it was just very telling to see that they welcomed the additional information. They also communicated really well in explaining how things worked, what they were doing, and how to maintain the system. Would highly recommend them to anyone needing radon mitigation work.

Performed radon mitigation at our house before we moved in. They were efficient, professional, and got the job done, even though our home had a number of challenging features like an extensive crawlspace that they had to crawl through to place the piping and multi-layered decking that needed to be removed for the exit pipe/fan. They proposed a unique solution to our mitigation issues, and it worked and saved us a lot of money from the other companies that bid on the job! Andrew and his partner were really terrific to work with--we would very highly recommend their service!

It was great. I had contacted other A rated contractors to look at my situation. None called me back. I noticed Andrew was also in Eden Prairie. He called me back about 45 minutes after I filled out the online form on his site. As luck would have it, I was working from home that day and he came out 45 minutes after that. I got a quote of 1600...which is about what I was expecting to pay based on other research I had done. He fit me in for an appt within 2 weeks of that date. He was in and out in less than 1/2 a day. DONE!! Great to have such responsiveness.

Andrew and Rob were focused, approachable, and answered all my questions ... as well as educating us with easy to understand and proactive information (what to monitor and look for as the system operates and ages; let our HVAC servicer know we installed the system and to check the water heater backdraft; would need to be replaced in approximately 10 years; and such). Offered us the option of using their electrician or our own; we used theirs and were very happy with the education, consideration, and service provided. Andrew and Rob finished in half a day; Brothers Electric completed their work in less than 45 minutes in the early afternoon. Rob retrieved the test box about a week later and shared reduction results immediately. We received the follow up report documentation within 2 days. Andrew communicated clearly prior to installation about the process, cost, and then the installation date. We would definitely recommend the services of A1 Radon Services LLC.

I called Andy from A1 and told him that we needed a radon system installed. He was able to get to my home much quicker than i imagined and did a wonderful job. Andy showed up with another co-worker exactly on time and was out of my house in 2 1/2 hours. The system looks great and isn't as much an eyesore as I was expecting. I would recommend his company and service to anyone looking to have radon testing or removal services.

I highly recommend Andrew Costigan and his team at A1 Radon Services LLC. He answered the phone on my first call and took time to explain the rocess and answer my questions. He was willing to schedule the installation within two or three weeks of my call. He and Rob showed up on time, assessed the situation and approach and four hours later the installation was completed. The work was clean, neat and professional. Our radon level reading has fallen from 4.6 to 0.7 after the installation of the system. (4.0 is the action level). They were the lowest cost of the quotes I obtained and had the first opening. Based on my experience you can use them with confidence.

We are trying to sell our old home. The radon came in around 4.4 during the winterized testing. I called 3 service providers on May 19. The first one wanted a detailed drawing about layout and basically told me he didn't really have time for me but did not want to lose a possible business opportunity. On top of that, he could not install until sometime in June. He was also quoting me around 2200. It sounded as if he wanted a blueprint of our home. I basically did not want to go into the crawl space and do all his analysis work for him. The second one was very familiar with our style of home. He gave me a thorough quote over the phone but it was around $2400. A1 was recommended by my agent whom I trust. He called me back within an hour, drove to the house that evening and sent me a quote. It came in at $1585 but with a possible $1000 extra if the first step was insufficient. He called me to explain that for the mitigation to work, he needs to create a vacuum. His process works about 99% of the time. After discussing it, I agreed to go with A1 because they could get it done within a week. First, these guys patiently waited. That morning, the house had undergone inspection and the inspector had shut the power off to the garage. I had to drive over to let them in but they were kind and patient. They were fast and neat. It was explained to me how the pipe would go into the house. Finally, radon levels are 0.4! So we spent just the right amount of money. I am very happy with their service, punctuality and thoroughness.

A1 Radon is the best! We used them in a real estate transaction when a radon test revealed a 4.5 pCi/l radon level and the buyer asked us to put in a radon mitigation system as a condition of the purchase agreement. Andrew, the owner, responded the same day to my email request for an estimate. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and promptly and was very patient while we worked with the Homeowner's Association. He supplied the written proposal and all the other documentation the HOA required, and did so in a timely and professional manner.
He and his partner, Rob, installed our system in just 4 hours. Because of their contracting background, they took the time, and were able to find a route from the basement to the attic, without having to go thru the garage or an interior closet, so there were no vent pipes visible anywhere in the finished living space. Their price was competitive and they even price matched a slightly lower bid that the buyer had received. They provided an electronic radon test following the installation and the radon level was reduced from 4.5 to 0.5. (anything under 4 is acceptable and anything under 2 is great.) Outside air is 0.4 so you can't get much better than that.
When you are comparing radon mitigation companies, be sure you are comparing apples to apples. Not all companies include an electronic radon test after installation and not all companies include the electrician in their bid. (an outlet is required for the system fan.) Who really wants to find and hire an electrician on their own, and then try to coordinate the schedules of the radon mitigators and the electrician?
Andrew and Rob were a pleasure to do business with, and they not only installed an effective system, but they left the space cleaner than they found it. I would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a radon mitigation system

The guys were very punctual and professional. They removed their shoes at the door, and after they left, the only trace of their visit was the suction point(s) in the basement. After our initial post mitigation test came back close to 2 pCi/L, they promptly ran another more sophisticated test that tracked levels hour by hour and confirmed the slightly elevated levels. Thereafter, they returned to install a second suction point, bringing the radon level down to the desired level.
Andrew was on top of the whole process from the very beginning, promptly answer my questions and responding to emails. He also stayed on top of the follow-up testing, proactively suggesting next steps and promptly scheduling any additional work.
This is an area where really A1 differentiates themselves from the competition. With the recent law changes, I think some companies believe they can get away with proving a lower level of service. We contacted several other companies before hiring A1, some didn't even return calls and others didn't respond to follow-up questions after providing the estimate.
A1 not only had the best price we found (they quoted a flat fee for homes like ours), but also exceptional customer service. I've already recommended them to several other friends and neighbors

The guys showed up right on schedule and made quick work of the installation. Their work was clean and the site looked great when they left. They were very thorough in explaining what they were doing and ran the ducting where it wasn't so visible. The electrician came within a couple days to finish the wiring installation.
The installers then set up the test device and came back a few days later to take the reading. Our radon levels went from 8+ to approx 1 after the installation - a significant decrease and well below the recommended max levels. We recently received results from our 3-month long-term test and levels were at 1.1 so the system is working well.

The guys from A-1 were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. The installation job they performed for the radon mitigation system was impressive in terms of the non-invasive manner in which the system was actually put in. All traces of the system are nearly undetectable from either the inside or outside.

Andrew and his coworker arrived within 15 minutes of the time they were supposed to. They got right to work after explaining what they were going to do. They said it would take 4 hours and it took 3.5 hours. There was no disruption in the household. They just did their thing. When they were finished they explained that the electrician would be by two days later to hook up the system to our house electric. They temporarily ran an extension cord out a back window to run the system.
All in all, the work was fast, efficient, and explained well. We are pleased with the work.

Andrew was extremely professional. He came to my home to bid on the work. He explained the job completely to me and how he would install the system in the least conspicuous way. He actually placed the pipe in the basement, extending through the garage and out through the attic. I can view the fan information in my garage anytime I need to. He also sealed the sump pump and has his company's contact information in the garage and basement. His price included the cost of the electrician to do the electrical work for the fan. I didn't have to coordinate anything! Finally, we are doing the self-retest and the paperwork includes him coming back if the test results aren't below the appropriate number. Best experience with a contractor to date! I highly recommend!

A1 Radon Services was one of 4 radon mitigation contractors that we had give us a bid. Our radon levels pre-mitigation ranged from 9.0 - 16.1 pCi/L depending on the location tested. We have an unusual layout (2 different additions to the home) and no crawlspace or sump pump basket, which made installing a radon system somewhat complicated so we wanted to have several opinions.
We went with A1 Radon Services as Andrew was extremely professional, responsive and his proposed location & setup for the system was by far the least destructive to our home. Our system was installed on 7/29 and was completed in less than one day. They did a great job of doing as little destruction as possible & making the system as inconspicuous as possible. We were pleased by the fact that there were no surprises in amount of work needed or charges. Everything went/cost exactly as outlined in Andrew's bid. It was a very positive experience!
We just got our follow up radon test results back & we were very pleased to see that our radon level is now well within the acceptable limits for healthy air! We are down to 1.5 pCi/L (safe range is up to 4.0). Due to our unique floorplan & high levels of radon we thought we might even have to install 2 systems to get under 4.0.
We couldn't have asked for a better experience! Our radon system was not as expensive as we expected, installed faster than we expected, and the aesthetics of the system are FAR better than we expected!

Owning an older home for 20 plus years, I have worked with tons of contractors and even the best ones disappoint in some ways - but in the case A1 Radon, it was the best contractor experience I've ever had, every aspect of the service was professional and well-done and they weren't the highest bid.
I needed to radon mitigation done in a timely fashion for the sale of my house.Andrew promptly responded to my call and because my situation sounded a bit tricky (old house with crawl spaces) , he scheduled to see the house a few days after I called.
Meanwhile, I talked to two other radon mitigation contractors, one with good referral from realtor and another off Angie's List. The realtor referral said he could do job in two weeks and gave me a thorough proposal for $3500 but then got busy and kept sliding schedule. The other Angie's List contractor gave me a general quote without seeing place but was too booked up to make my schedule when I called him back. Both these guys thought I would need to have suction points under both crawl spaces at my house, given our tested levels, and $3500 guy had plans to have pipes running all around my basement, and insulation around outside vent pipe (old house required outside run of vent).
Given the two other guys were too far out in schedule and slipping on me, I called Andrew to say not to bother to meet if he couldn't get out in two weeks. Luckily, and likely taking pity on my desperation, his schedule allowed him move up his meeting and check out my house two days earlier than we had scheduled, and once he saw situation, he was able to fit me in for the work a week later. This was a great relief to me.
Andrew thought I only needed a suction point under basement and that suction point would intercept radon at sufficient depth so that crawl spaces would not also need suction point. He also was confident the outside vent would not need to be insulated and that freezing during most cold winter days was very rarely a problem, and even then, at worst, on-off problem for a day or two at the most.
To possibly save me money, Andrew offered to just do basement, test radon levels, and come back do more work only if needed, he was confident, given small size of basement that one suction point was all that was likely needed. But given my house sale hinged on adequate mitigation and not wanting to lose time, I asked him to go ahead to do another suction point under the bigger crawl space (that was not as well-capped), right away. Andrew came up with a compact plan to place suction points and even bothered to squeeze his work in between water heater and boiler to make system as unobtrusive as possible in the unfinished basement. He also came up with a good location to bring the pipe up the side of the house, from aesthetics and performance perspective. His layout was far superior to that proposed by the other more expensive, well-experienced contractor's bid. His bid was $1000 less than highest bid and I might have been able to save even more money if I had taken them up on offer to try doing less and test.
Also, one of the other contractors said I need to clear all my boxes out of way because they work in wet and there would be muddy water splashing around. In contrast, A1 did their work in the dry and hardly left any dust, it was amazingly neat and tidy work, even though they encountered one of the thicker wall sections in our house that they had ever dealt with. A1 seems to have all the right tools, even the electricians who came after to wire system were jealous of their equipment, and while other tradesmen have had a hard time getting thru the side basement walls of my house, and A1 managed it well because they did have good tools.
A1 also tested the crawl space with chemical "fake" smoke to determine where it should be sealed, and because of that, determined less capping was needed than they had bid. A1 then reduced my bill by $500 to reflect this reduced work, even while they didn't increase my bill when other things proved more difficult than anticipated.
Given I had to get system and contractor approved by buyers and given my scheduling concerns, I had to email or call Andrew probably at least 10 times, and each time he promptly got back to me within few hours at the most. He even answered an email I sent on a Sat of a holiday weekend when I was concerned testing equipment was not working (it was).
He sent test results off promptly and when I asked for lien waiver from him (and four other contractors who had worked house in last 6 months), he immediately email backed and said he would get it off that night, which he did at 6:30 pm - meanwhile it took weeks of harassment to get lien waivers from any of the other contractors, guys who had done far more expensive work for me than A1
Also, A1's warranty was far better than other contractors' and was transferrable to new owners, one contractor's warranty only covered fan equipment. A1's warranty covered far more. A1 Radon Services work is done by the guys who own it, so they know what they are doing and are responsible and have right tools for the job. The test results showed radon levels were 1.5 pCi/L, well below the required 4 pCi/L, when we started at 8.5 pCi/L
A1 Radon Services was my best contractor experience in last 20 years, they gave me smartest solution compared to other contractors, saved me money, responded promptly, and did great work.
I was very stressed about getting this work done in time for the house sale and A1 really saved the day for me with their well-done, professional, reliable service.
